Li Wei is now one of the most active and influential young cellists on the stage, holding memberships in the China Musicians Association and the Beijing Musicians Association. She is also a member of the Committee for the Inheritance of Traditional Chinese Culture at the China International Reportage Literature Research Association, a national second-level performer, and a master's student in the cello department at the Central Conservatory of Music. She formerly served as the principal cellist in the Kongzheng Art Troupe (空政文工团乐队). Her mentor is Professor Yu Mingqing, the first doctoral supervisor for cello in China, president of the Cello Society of the China Musicians Association, and deputy head of the Orchestral Department at the Central Conservatory of Music.
