The album "Seeking The Tao Of Strings 问弦·百年丝弦琵琶" features 11 century-old silk-stringed pipa recordings, a world first. Renowned international pipa master Wu Man has recorded domestically for the first time in 30 years.

"Seeking The Tao Of Strings" includes 13 classic solo pieces, featuring both civil and martial tunes, original works, and never-before-recorded folk melodies. The album spans over 70 minutes, maximizing CD storage capacity and offering a journey through time lasting more than an hour.

This album marks Wu Man's first domestic recording and her debut collaboration with Long Yuan Music. It utilizes 11 different silk-stringed pipa, each with unique timbre, design, age, and charm. These antique pipa instruments have been brought together in a single album for the first time.

The production, materials, structure, and sound of these instruments, as well as the playing techniques, differ significantly from modern pipa. Each silk-stringed pipa is paired with one or two pieces.

Let us momentarily set aside our preconceptions of the pipa's sound and embark on a musical journey with these silk-stringed instruments to hear the ancient tones of a century ago. It is nourishment, it is moving, it is fate.

Wu Man (吴蛮; born January 2, 1963) is a Chinese pipa player and composer. Trained in Pudong-style pipa performance at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, she is known for playing in a broad range of musical styles and introducing the pipa and its Chinese heritage into Western genres. She has performed and recorded extensively with Kronos Quartet and Silk Road Ensemble, and has premiered works by Philip Glass, Lou Harrison, Terry Riley, Bright Sheng, Tan Dun, Zhao Jiping, and Zhou Long, among many others. She has recorded and appeared on over 40 albums, five of which have been nominated for Grammy Awards. In 2013, she was named Instrumentalist of the Year by Musical America, becoming the first performer of a non-Western instrument to receive this award.
