What better music than Vivaldi's Le Quattro Stagioni to start the celebration of Rachel Podger's 50th birthday year? Together with the star players of Brecon Baroque, Podger guides listeners through the cycle of nature and life. Vivaldi's Four Seasons have become one of classical music's best loved works. However, most recordings adopt a strikingly similar approach to these scores, and familiarity has blunted the music's edge. Podger's new recording aims to reset the clock - refocusing on the ingredients that make The Four Seasons so special and reminding listeners of the remarkable freshness of Vivaldi's invention.

Rachel Podger (born 1968 in England) is an English violinist and conductor specialising in the performance of Baroque music.

Podger is a professor of Baroque violin at both the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and also teaches regularly at the Hochschule für Künste, Bremen. When not touring with various orchestras and other classical players, Podger works with her partner in Brecon, South Wales, helping young musicians through the Mozart Music Fund, which she founded in 2006, as well as holding workshops and giving recitals. In 2006 they also founded the annual Brecon Baroque Festival which is held over the penultimate weekend of October every year.
