Since ancient times, West Lake has been a renowned tourist destination. Amidst the picturesque scenery of West Lake, the most famous are the "Top Ten Scenes of West Lake" and the "New Top Ten Scenes of West Lake," collectively known as the "Double Top Ten Scenes of West Lake." The names of the Top Ten Scenes of West Lake originated from the titles of Southern Song Dynasty paintings depicting the West Lake landscape. During the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi personally wrote the names of the ten scenes and inscribed them on stone monuments. In the reign of Emperor Qianlong, he also composed poems for each of the ten scenes. Thus, the "Top Ten Scenes of West Lake," named since the Southern Song Dynasty, have been passed down to the present day.
